Software Engineer

Build the parts of NEXPORT that do not exist yet, then operate them when a manufacturer is waiting on the answer.

A company that works on one problem

Proventa builds software for manufacturers. The distance between what they make and the buyer who needs it is the only problem we work on. NEXPORT reads a catalogue, turns it into the tags customs records are indexed by, ranks the firms already importing that category, and holds outreach in one pipeline.

A model drafts the tag set and the first message. A person checks every tag before it is used and every message before it is sent. Customer data is used for matching — never sold as a list. The work is measured in the customer’s export numbers, not in internal dashboards.

The role

You will write the software that has to be right in regulated industries. Wrong tags waste a factory’s month. A message sent unread is a promise we do not make. The interesting work is not “add AI.” It is the boring, load-bearing layer around it: how records are joined, how a ranking is explained, how a disagreement by the customer changes the next list, how the pipeline does not become a spreadsheet only one person knows about.

You will also sit in customer interviews. At this size there is no wall between the person who ships the matcher and the person who hears why a plant rejected the shortlist.

Core responsibilities

  • Design, ship, and operate the matching and ranking path — catalogue and certifications in, a checkable shortlist out.
  • Build the pipeline that holds contact, message, reply, and what is due, so nothing lives in a private spreadsheet.
  • Put human review in the loop wherever a model drafts: tags, reasons, outreach. Make the check cheap and the miss expensive to ignore.
  • Keep trade records and customer documents on separate rails. Nothing a manufacturer hands over is used for any customer but them.
  • Automate the operational work you would otherwise do twice. Then watch the first version in production, because you will be the one who gets the call.
  • Join manufacturer conversations when the product is wrong, and turn that into the next reversible change.

What we value

  • Taste for systems that have to explain themselves. A match without a reason is not a match we will show.
  • Independence. Reversible decisions should ship without a meeting. Irreversible ones — customer data, anything that leaves the building — should not.
  • Comfort reading messy real-world data: customs codes, catalogues written for humans, certifications that do not map cleanly.
  • The discipline to check what a model drafts instead of trusting the first pass.
  • Willingness to operate what you ship. There is no separate on-call team behind you.

What we require

  • A body of work you can walk through end to end: what was wrong, what you changed, how you knew it worked.
  • Production judgment in at least one stack used to ship web software and data-heavy features. The exact languages matter less than whether you can own a path from a factory document to a ranked list.
  • Ability to work on site in Seoul, full time.

Korean is a strong advantage because customers and source documents often are. English is the language of the product and this page. Experience with search, ranking, pipelines, or LLM-assisted workflows is useful and not a gate.

How to apply

Write to people@proventainc.com with “Careers — Software Engineer” in the subject line.

Tell us three things: something you built or fixed, end to end; why this problem rather than another one; how to reach you. Link the work if you can. A CV is welcome.
